Heat Shrink Tunnels

With a heat shrink tunnel machine, your food packaging will look great and last longer on the shelf. Heat tunnels give you a tight and secure shrink, this makes them ideal for egg trays, biscuit & chocolate boxes, frozen trayed products, and fruit & vegetables. We’ll help you choose the right packaging machines for your business—just talk to one of our local packaging specialists.

How does a heat tunnel work?

A heat tunnel, also known as a shrink wrap tunnel, uses heat to shrink plastic film tightly around products. The products move along a conveyor belt, through the tunnel which blows hot air onto the film. The heat causes the film to shrink, conforming closely to the shape of the product and sealing it tightly.

The tunnel’s temperature and airflow is adjustable to suit the type of plastic packaging being used and the size of the products. Our team of NZ packaging specialists can advise you on selecting a machine that suits your products and operation. We’ll even help you install it and set it up correctly!

How fast does a shrink wrap tunnel machine go?

The exact speed of a shrink tunnel machine depends on the model, design, and settings. Generally they are designed to accommodate a range of production speeds—you can adjust the speed at which the products pass through the tunnel to control the packaging process.

All of our machines have a maximum production speed that they can handle so it’s important to select a machine that will be most efficient in your production process. We can advise you on the best option for your business to maximise production speed without compromising on the quality of shrinkage and sealing.
